Interest Rates in January

Things are looking good for interest rates in early 2009.  We have been up and down but rates have been consistently low which makes it a great time to buy.  These rates coupled with the large inventory and the low prices of many homes makes this a good opportunity if you have been thinking of purchasing a home.

Almost daily we get some new article from a prominent news source citing the fact that Real Estate should help to lead us out of the recession and that should happen soon as far as the increase in Real Estate Sales.  When that happens the inventory should start to fall and prices will stabilize or go higher.

That makes it a good idea to beat the rush and start looking.  It is still "Location, location, location" and it is important to work with a very good real estate professional.

Please call us here at Long and Foster Norfolk at 757-623-2500 for more information and an idea of what is available now.

Plan Now for 2009

Now is the time to start thinking about what you would like to do in 2009 particularly if that involves buying a home.  The supply of homes now is very good and prices are very low.  Many people feel we have reached the bottom of the price drop in the housing market.  There is a great deal of pent-up demand as people have put off buying houses and many predict that housing prices as well as interest may go up next year.  So, give yourself a present--a new home with a good price and a low interest rate.  Please call us at the Norfolk Office of Long and Foster.  We would love to help.  Our number is 757-623-2500 or visit us on the web at www.longandfoster.com.

Great Place to Live

We are very lucky to live in one of the finest parts of the United States with some of the best people around.  This area has been chosen by several national magazines as the number one place to live in the United States.  It has been chosen in the top ten places by many more.  Some of these magazines include "Ladies Home Journal", "US Weekend", "Money Magazine" and others.  We enjoy a great climate, fabulous waterways and beaches, good restaurants and stores, safe cities, good jobs and childcare, good schools, and many other good quality of life issues.

What was really brought home to me this weekend at a District Rotary Conference was the really great people we have who live in this area.  We had 500 people at the Portsmouth Renaissance all from this area through Richmond and Fredricksburg.  All of the people were united in one goal--Service Above Self.  These people were all working together to make things better for the community and for the world.  How lucky we are to live in a country and a state that values these things.

So not only should we be thankful for living in such a great area geographically we also can be glad we have such great folks living here.  This is good news for a Real Estate professional like myself but is also good news for the rest of us living here.  Enjoy where you live and the people who live here.  Location, location, location.

Location, location, location

On the fence about buying a home today?  It is a great time to buy.  We have an unusual combination of low interest rates, great inventory of homes, low home prices and lots of seller concessions.  This is in combination with the tax incentives for first time homebuyers.

The key, as always, in real estate is location, location, location.  Now is a good time to find a home in a prime location because prices are lower and that adds value.  Our Hampton Roads area has always had a good solid economy with a combination of military, civil service and private sector jobs.  We always have people moving in and out of Tidewater and people need homes.

It is time to talk to a real estate professional who can help you decipher what is a good value from all the homes available.  Buying now can make you one of the people who is glad that they have invested in their future while enjoying it today.

Home for the Holidays

Most of us like to be settled in a new home before the busy holiday season starts.  Now is a good time to start looking to be moved in before Thanksgiving.  It is hard to believe that summer is over and a day like today brings us that crisp, fall feeling reminiscent of football games and autumn fun.  This kind of weather is great house-hunting weather, also, as it is cool and pleasant for riding around and exploring homes and neighborhoods.

The activity level has picked up on home sales in our office but there is still a good variety and inventory of homes from which to choose.  Prices are good and so are interest rates.  Call us if you want to start looking.

Your home may be your biggest investment.  It is a great gift to give to yourself to enjoy now and to bring future rewards.  So, plan your holiday shopping accordingly--be nice to yourself first.  This is the gift that keeps on giving--a new home for you and the family to enjoy.
